Celestis Studio / Odoly

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

In short: Odoly has no servers and no accounts. Your car journal lives on your phone. It leaves the phone only when you ask it to: a backup to your own Google Drive, a file you save or share, or a VIN lookup. We have no analytics, no tracking and no advertising in the app.

Who we are

Odoly is made by Celestis Studio, the trade name of PE Verydusov Petro, a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine. Contact: [email protected].

What the app stores on your phone

This data is in the app's private storage. We, Celestis Studio, never receive it. Uninstalling the app deletes it from the phone. Odoly turns off Android's automatic app backup, so a copy goes to Google only through the Drive backup described below.

When data leaves your phone

Google Drive backup (only if you turn it on)

When you connect Google Drive in Settings, Odoly saves a backup file of your journal, including receipt photos, to the hidden app folder of your Google Drive. The app asks only for access to that folder (drive.appdata): it cannot see or change your other Drive files. The file goes directly from your phone to Google; we cannot see it. Google handles it under the Google Privacy Policy.

VIN lookup

When you enter or scan a full 17-character VIN on the car card, the app sends that VIN, and nothing else, to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vPIC service (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) to fill in make, model and year. No account or personal information goes with it. Results are cached on the phone.

Purchases

Odoly Pro is sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never see your card or payment details. The app asks Google Play whether you have an active purchase to unlock Pro features.

Receipt and VIN scanning

Text on a receipt or VIN plate is read on the phone by Google's ML Kit, with the recognition model built into the app. The photo is not uploaded for recognition. As part of Google Play services, ML Kit may send Google technical information about the recognition feature itself, such as performance and error metrics; it does not send your photos or the recognised text. The camera photo is taken by your phone's own camera app; Odoly does not request camera permission.

Files you export or share

Backup files, CSV exports and PDF reports are written where you choose through the system file dialog, or handed to the app you share them with. After that they are under your control.

Emails to support

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, such as a description of the problem or diagnostic details. We use it only to answer you and keep the correspondence no longer than needed for that.

What we do not do

Notifications

Maintenance reminders and backup alerts are scheduled and shown by the app on your phone. No push service is involved.

Deleting your data

Since we hold none of your journal, there is nothing for us to delete on our side; support emails are deleted on request.

Children

Odoly is a tool for car owners and is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you have rights to access, correct and delete your personal data. For the journal, you exercise them directly in the app. For anything you sent us by email, write to [email protected].

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. Changes that widen what leaves your phone are announced in the app before they take effect.
